If you've been to my apartment, you know that I love antique maps. I've posted a map of lower Manhattan, probably around 200 years ago.
I try to purchase and frame maps from places that mean a lot to me, either because of a personal connection or a great travel experience in my past.
My favorite maps in my collection are an 1860s map of lower Manhattan, a 1910 map of my hometown of St. Louis, and an 1880's map of California, when LA was a blip and San Francisco was the big game in town.
One of the best places to find antique maps is at the Argosy Bookstore in Manhattan. And by the way, a well-framed map is an incredible gift to give, and receive.
