This morning, I was in Naples, FL, where the typical driver is more likely to be a 91-year old. At around 10:30am, my step-father and I were driving down Vanderbilt Avenue (sounds old already) when we noticed a car in front of us ... with its passenger-side door WIDE OPEN. The car pulled up to a red light, and at first I expected to see someone get out of it. But then I realized that the driver had NO IDEA that the side door was even open. As the light turned green, a pedestrian ran over to the car, stopped the driver from proceeding, and shut the door. I am still shaking my head in disbelief. Next time you go to Southwest Florida, remember: Drive defensively.
Oh, here's a shot of mom and me on the lovely canals of Naples. Not bad for an evening in February.
