Suck it up and stay with your friends. Look at it this way ... even if you buy them a half-case of Veuve Cliquot it's less than one night in a hotel. Make your bed, towel off the sink, treat them to dinner, make polite conversation, don't bring anyone home ... you know the drill! But go -- it really is the most happening city in Europe. And don't miss the National Portrait Gallery -- my favorite museum/gallery in London.

My favorite is the Tate Modern because the building is spectacularly unique.
Oh dear! Since when is $350 a reasonable rate?
Oh, for the good old days of hostels and The Lonely Planet!

Just came back from London. Did the whole Priceline thing when I arrived before I went through immigration so I would have a address to put down. Found a place in Westminster for about $225.00. Nice place, clean, no view but who cares. Let me look up my itin and see what it was called. Near Nigeria House..

My friend just traveled all over Europe, including London while staying with people he met through couch surfing.

Hyatt points are my savior
