Tonight is the launch ceremony for what will surely be one of the great public art events in years: The Bay Lights installation of 25,000 LED lights on the Bay Bridge in San Francisco.
Every night for the next two years, the San Francisco span of the Bay Bridge will be lit in an ever-changing display of twinkling lights. Oh, how I love everything about this project: The successful private fundraising that made it possible. The city's commitment to allowing it to happen on a public structure. The brilliance of the art concept itself. And the fact that it will make one of the most gorgeous cities on earth that much more gorgeous. Check out today's NYT video on the project. Cannot wait for my next trip to SF!
