El Centro is not actually in the Central Valley. It's way down in the desert, close to the Mexican border. I think it's considered the Imperial Valley, which believe you me, is a far more impressive name than it's worth.

Sean is correct, and was responding to an incorredt tidbit I'd posted. I have edited out that change, so the post above is now accurate. Thanks Sean!
